If there's anything you don't understand, then go find the answer in the book.
——Cha Jianjun
Zha Jianjun, the chief engineer of Smap Elevator, is a typical male born in the 1960s who enjoys astronomy and physics, and prefers bridge.
In his work, he is a rigorous and serious post-60s STEM man;
In life, he is a humorous and witty encyclopedia dictionary;
28 years ago, with the same enthusiasm as when I first joined the company, I was still in my job position and my blood was boiling;
For 28 years, the company has been constantly changing, but what remains unchanged is his perseverance and love for this place;
For 28 years, he witnessed and accompanied the development and growth of Smap Elevator bit by bit.
Since 1991, Cha Jianjun has been working at the elevator factory, and in the blink of an eye, it was the year of destiny. During his 28 years at Smap Elevator, he stood in the production workshop, ran through the installation site, drew drawings, conducted quality inspection and after-sales service, and was responsible for the quality supervision of the entire factory. In 2018, Cha Jianjun was appointed as the Chief Engineer of Smap Elevator.
Along the way, his figure was imprinted in the flow of time in the Smap elevator.
The best youth is the watering of sweat and effort
After graduating from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1991, Cha Jianjun was assigned to work as an intern in the technical department at the Qingpu Joint Venture Factory of Shanghai Changjiang Elevator. Despite his background in mechanical lifting, Cha Jianjun is not familiar with escalators. Draw drawings, go to the production workshop to learn and follow the installation site.
Young Inspector (First from the Right)
Looking back on his internship at that time, what impressed Cha Jianjun the most was following the installation team to the installation site. If the things he designed and the installation master didn't use them well, he would curse on the spot. However, it was also such an opportunity that allowed him to receive the most direct feedback at the first time.
He said, "I am very grateful for having such an experience. These work experiences have also provided me with important inspiration on how to optimize drawings and component structures in my future work, and have accumulated rich practical experience. They have also quickly elevated my technical level.".
And these are experiences and abilities that most technicians do not possess.
Thanks to his practical experience at the joint venture factory, in 1993, Cha Jianjun officially became a technical personnel at Shanghai Changjiang Elevator General Factory (predecessor of Smap Elevator, renamed Shanghai Changjiang Smap Elevator Co., Ltd. after Sino German technical cooperation in 2004), and began to work on the design and calculation of the entire escalator and key components.
In 1995, the escalator department and elevator technology department of Shanghai Changjiang Elevator Factory merged, and Cha Jianjun was appointed as the manager of the technology department. Prior to this, Cha Jianjun only worked on escalators and did not come into contact with elevators, which was a challenge for him.
"If there's anything you don't understand, then go find the answer in the book."
Cha Gong is able to quickly adjust his own state. He reads books related to elevators, and with a "first grade" mentality, he re learns elevator related knowledge, consults literature, and seeks advice from teachers. During that time, he often carried a pile of information home to study until very late. It was also during that time that the experience of "pushing ducks to the shelves" allowed him to achieve a qualitative improvement in elevator technology.
On the way forward, with the help of good teachers and helpful friends
From an ordinary technician to the chief engineer of Smap Elevator, there were two important individuals in Cha Jianjun's career development - Ding Chou Nian and Zhu Changming - who were his guides in his work.
Ding Chou Nian - A Forgotten Friendship of Teachers and Friends
Ding Chou Nian can be said to be the master who led him into the door with one hand. Cha Gong, who had just started working, was almost a novice. Fortunately, he met the enthusiastic and selfless veteran of the technical department, Mr. Ding Chou Nian. Cha Gong received meticulous guidance from him on design concepts, design standards, and work methods.
"If I don't explain something to you clearly, he won't be able to sleep on his own."
When it comes to Ding Chou Nian, what impressed Cha Jianjun the most was his unreserved sharing of technical experience with his younger generation. With a down-to-earth and rigorous work attitude, an unreserved experience sharing, a simple demeanor, and a witty way of speaking, Cha Jianjun quickly fell in love with this "teacher".
In addition to their mentor apprentice relationship at work, the two of them also forget about their old friendship. After Mr. Ding Chou retired, Cha Jianjun often visited him and discussed problems encountered in his work together.
In 2006, at the age of 66, Mr. Ding Chou Nian unfortunately suffered from cancer. On his deathbed, he also handed over his conceptual manuscript on elevators to Cha Jianjun, demonstrating Mr. Ding's trust and expectations for Cha Gong.
Zhu Changming - Mentor for Guiding Mazu
If Ding Chou Nian led Cha Gong into the door, then his teacher - Professor Zhu Changming from Shanghai Jiao Tong University - helped him achieve great breakthroughs in technology!
Whenever Cha Jianjun feels lost in his work, he runs to the school to find classmates and teachers to discuss, and Teacher Zhu Changming is always able to pinpoint the problem.
By chance, when discussing energy-saving technology with teachers such as Zhu Changming, Cha Jianjun was inspired and wondered why energy-saving technology could not be applied to elevators. So he began to conduct relevant research and experiments, and at that time, there were not many reference materials for energy-saving technology in elevators to search for. After having any ideas and ideas, Cha Jianjun went to consult with Teacher Zhu Changming.
Therefore, Teacher Zhu Changming became a key figure in Chagong's successful leadership in the research and development of the first energy-saving elevator 3-MAP300ESK in China.
Searching for answers in details and becoming a qualified craftsman
"By doing the details well, the product quality will naturally not be inferior."
This is an important experience that Cha Gong has summarized from years of technical work. He said, "When making products, we need to demand excellence from ourselves. This is the guarantee of product quality and also the responsibility to users."
This can be traced back to the era of the comprehensive renovation of the FT escalator at Shanghai Changjiang Elevator Factory from 1994 to 1995. At that time, Cha Gong was entrusted with the important task of overall design and calculation, as well as writing technical documentation.
He faces complex and tedious work every day, but even a slight mistake can lead to a comeback. It was at that time that he gained a deeper understanding and sensitivity to every aspect of elevator design, which also laid a solid foundation for his future work.
Once, Smap Elevator developed a new product and during pre factory testing, it was found that there was a loud roar and vibration in the elevator car during operation. After discussing and collecting relevant data, Cha Gong keenly realized that the crux of the problem should lie in the vibration frequency of the elevator car.
In his work, he analyzed that the frequency range in which the human body is most sensitive to vibration frequency is 4Hz-10Hz, and vibrations in this range can make the human body feel uncomfortable and even numb the soles of the feet. The elevator car is a type of random vibration, and the frequency distribution zone with the most concentrated vibration energy in the 0.5Hz-30Hz range is the elevator car.
Usually, vibrations below 0.5Hz do not attract the attention of passengers, while vibrations above 30Hz are mainly attenuated by mechanical systems composed of various components in the elevator car, and generally do not cause discomfort to passengers.
Therefore, Mr. Cha requested a redesign of the damping and shock-absorbing structure of the elevator car, with a targeted control of the overall stiffness of the elevator car and suspension device, and the design of the vibration frequency of the elevator car should be controlled within the range of 2Hz-4 Hz. After some adjustments, the problem was perfectly resolved.
After running away for half a lifetime, returning is still a passionate young man
When he was young, Cha Gong was also an "internet addicted teenager" who was obsessed with online games. He loved the Red Alert and Empire era the most. When he was most fascinated, he could play games all night long.
He enjoys reading books, especially astronomy and physics, and often stays in the library for a whole day; He prefers playing bridge, and as he grows older, Cha Gong has lost many of his hobbies, but only bridge is what he has always insisted on.
He said that the spirit of communication, trust, collaboration, and tolerance embodied in bridge games is something he will benefit from throughout his life, whether in work or life.
Making an elevator, like playing bridge, requires taking every step well. Any small mistake can bring huge disasters, and every move can change the outcome.
In Cha Jianjun, who is about to enter the year of destiny, he did not have a calm understanding of life and the world, but instead maintained a curiosity towards his surroundings and the world around him.
This is probably what people say, wishing you could run away for half your life and return to be the best state of youth.
